Allergy Advice

Skin which is sensitive or prone to allergy varies enormously from person to person. Our skin produces acids which can change due to several factors and which can react when in contact with metals and can cause irritation in some individuals.

We stock jewellery which is made from sterling silver or 92.5% silver which is the equivelent standard in jewellery making. Silver is alloyed or mixed with other metals such as copper or brass to give the jewellery strength and durability as pure silver alone is too soft to wear well.

Due to the high number of nickel allergies in people who are sensitive, the sale of nickel jewellery here in the U.K. and Europe has been officially banned. As a responsible retailer we do not knowingly stock jewellery containing nickel for safety reasons and in order to comply with strict regulations.

Jewellery Care

To keep your silver jewellery in good condition we recommend that you store it carefully when not being worn. Storing your jewellery in airtight containers or ziplock bags isn't glamorous, but we find they are ideal. The use of a special silver jewellery cleaning cloth which is impregnated with a non toxic cleaning and polishing agent, will keep your silver bright and shining. 

All silver can tarnish due to exposure to ozone and other atmospheric chemicals. Silver is stable in pure air and water. Some advise the use of dipping your silver jewellery in silver cleaning solutions however care must be taken with pearls and opals for example as they are porous and will react to solutions adversely. However, wearing and enjoying your jewellery often will reduce the tarnishing process.

Ring sizing

We advise that you have your ring size measured at a professional jeweller for accuracy. Alternatively we can supply you with a ring sizer for a small charge which will be posted to you. You will find ring sizers in our Essentials section.

Please note that it is important to have your ring size accurate as we do not refund costs when rings have been ordered incorrectly. In addition to this we are unable to exchange adjustable rings when the size has been altered.
